But what % of a child’s daily Vitamin A intake does a portion of Golden Rice actually contain? The figures I have read suggest around 5-10% (and possibly 23% for GR2). Surely it makes more sense to encourage farmers to cultivate some crops that actually provide a meaningful daily intake of Vitamin A (like carrots?). This is where the agroecology /diversity/ food sovereignty arguments really seem to have a strength. They focus on more than just calories per person averaged across the planet.
